Account deletion
Last updated 23 September 2026
This page explains how to have your Door-Let account deleted. It applies to the Door-Let mobile app and to the account you signed in with. There are two routes, by email or from inside the app, and the email route works whether or not you still have the app installed.
By email
Email support@doorlet.in from the address you signed in with, and say that you want your account deleted. Sending it from your own account address is how we confirm the request is yours. If you cannot use that address, write to us anyway and we will ask you to confirm the account another way before anything is removed.
We reply to confirm we have received the request, and again once it has been carried out.
In the app
Some builds also carry the route in the app itself. Open Settings, the gear at the top of the home screen, then Privacy & Terms, and go to the foot of that screen: under the note about closing your account, tap Delete my Doorlet account. What follows is deliberately slow, because it cannot be undone. There are four steps:
- Verify your identity again, with a fresh six digit code we email you.
- Type the email address or phone number on your account.
- Type the confirmation phrase exactly as it is shown, in capitals.
- Tick both acknowledgements.
Then tap Permanently delete account and confirm once more. Nothing is removed until that final confirmation, so you can leave the screen at any point before it.
If your build does not show that link, nothing is wrong with your account. The email route above is the one that always works.
What is removed
The same two things go, whichever route you use:
- Your Door-Let login, so the account can no longer be used to sign in.
- The private documents uploaded against your renters, including any Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and lease agreements. These are deleted from storage, not merely hidden.
What may remain, and for how long
We would rather tell you this plainly than promise an erasure we cannot carry out. These records are not deleted at the moment you ask:
- Within 30 days. Your remaining contact details, the renter phone numbers and email addresses in your portfolio, and WhatsApp phone-number fields and message-body contact content linked to your account. These are erased inside a month of your request. Consent, withdrawal, delivery and operational audit metadata may remain after the contact content is removed, as described in the privacy policy.
- Seven financial years. The rent charges you raised, the payments recorded against them and the audit trail behind them, with the renter name and unit needed to keep each record readable. Indian tax law requires the person earning the income to keep records of it for seven years. That duty is yours, not ours, and holding the history means you can meet it.
- No fixed period. The record that a sign in code was sent to you, which is held apart from your account for security reasons. And backups, which sit with our database host and roll forward on its schedule. We do not restore a deleted account from a backup.
We will not claim a record has been erased when it has not, and we will not dress an intention up as an automatic process. Some of it runs automatically today: AI call records are deleted after 30 days, and a routine that runs every ten minutes erases a deleted account's contact details once they fall due and clears expired sign-in code records. It never deletes financial records. Where the two periods above are not yet automated, they are commitments we carry out ourselves. If you want to know exactly what is still held about you after a deletion, ask us and we will tell you.
If you are a renter
Renters do not hold Door-Let accounts. Your details are recorded by your landlord, who decides what is kept about you, so a request to remove them should go to your landlord first. You can also write to support@doorlet.in and we will help.
